How to Price an Air Duct Cleaning Job (5 Steps)
Use the same five inputs this calculator uses, in this order, and every duct cleaning quote will be consistent and defensible:
- 1. Count the supply vents and return grilles on the phone or at the walkthrough. One supply per room plus 1–3 returns is typical.
- 2. Count the HVAC systems. Each additional air handler has its own trunk lines and adds $150–$300.
- 3. Pick one pricing model and use it every time: per vent, flat by home size, or per square foot.
- 4. Adjust for access. Attic and crawlspace ducts or a multi-story home take longer, so add 15–20%.
- 5. Offer add-ons as separate line items: dryer vent, sanitizing, furnace/blower and coil cleaning.
The Air Duct Cleaning Pricing Formula
Job Price = (Base Cleaning + Extra Systems × System Fee) × Access Multiplier + Add-Ons, never less than your minimum job charge.
Base cleaning depends on the model you choose: supply vents × vent rate + returns × return rate, a flat rate for the home's size tier, or square footage × rate per sq ft. Per-system add-ons (sanitizing, furnace/blower, coil) are charged once for each HVAC system.
Open Advanced settings to set your own vent rates, flat rate, rate per sq ft, extra-system fee and minimum charge. The defaults are 2026 US mid-market rates. Check them against your labor: a single-system home usually takes 2–4 hours, and the job should cover those hours at a $90–$150 tech rate plus equipment and drive time.

All three models should land close together on a typical home. If they don't, one of your rates is off. Per-vent pricing protects you on homes with more vents than their size suggests.
Why You Shouldn't Match the $99 Whole-House Special
A thorough cleaning of a single-system home takes 2–4 hours with a negative-air machine and agitation tools. $99 doesn't cover that labor, let alone the truck and equipment. Companies advertising $99 make their money by upselling once the crew is inside, and consumer agencies have warned homeowners about this for years.
Don't compete on that number. Quote the real job and itemize it so the homeowner can see what's included (every supply and return, the trunk lines, the air handler compartment). Price the add-ons separately. An itemized quote is also what separates you from the bait-and-switch crews.
