How to Calculate Your Fully Loaded Labor Rate

Formula: Flat Rate Price = (Loaded Labor × Hours + Materials × Markup) ÷ (1 − Target Margin).

Fully loaded labor = wage + payroll taxes + workers' comp + general liability + vehicle & overhead. An electrician paid $35/hr costs $52–$65/hr fully loaded.

Standard markup by category: small parts (outlets, switches) 60–100%; mid-size (breakers, panels) 30–50%; wire per foot 20–40%.

Permits: always bill as a separate line item — cost of permit + $40–$75 admin fee. Never absorb permit costs into your labor rate.
